What’s it like to work at Prospect Hill Garden Center and Greenhouse?

Fun, exhausting, rewarding, dirty, comfortable, cold, hot, wet, great exercise, beautiful, educational, healthy, good for the environment AND never boring!

GARDEN CENTER CASHIER

Type of Position: Seasonal, part-time, hourly pay.

   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate cash register and Point of Sales (POS) system

  • Responsible for balancing register drawer

  • Perform daily opening and closing tasks

  • Greet customers in a courteous, friendly manner (in person and on the phone)

  • Answer and properly route telephone calls

  • Inform customers of weekly specials and sales

  • Price and display merchandise and maintain store

  • Selling and helping customers in store with products

  • Other duties requested by manager​

   WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • 2-5 days per week including  Saturday or Sunday.

  • Must have the ability to lift 25lbs. multiple times through out the day.

  • Must have ability to work standing, walking and moving for up to 8 hours per day.

  • Carry, lift, load, push, pull, reach, grab, twist, walk, work with hands.

GARDEN CENTER SALES AND SUPPORT

Type of Position: Seasonal, part-time, hourly pay

   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet customers in a courteous, friendly manner (in person and on the phone)

  • Inform customers of weekly specials and sales

  • Sell and aid customers in selection of all Garden Center products

  • Direct customers to the proper sales area for products desired

  • Provide general cultural care and basic garden design advice to customers

  • Encourage tie-in sales (mulch, fertilizer, etc.)

  • Receive, unload, unpack, price, and display Garden Center merchandise

  • Maintain and clean sales areas

  • Stock and display merchandise and live plant material

  • Other duties requested by manager

   WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Must have ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. or more, multiple times throughout the day.

  • Must have ability to work standing, walking and moving for up to 8-hrs. per day.

  • Must have ability to work outside in all types of weather and temperatures.

  • Carry, lift, load, push, pull, reach, grab, work with hands, twist, walk and work with hands.

  • Flexible, up to 5 days per week including Saturday or Sunday.

GENERAL GREENHOUSE AND SALES YARD LABOR

Type of Position: Seasonal, full or part-time, hourly pay

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planting annual and perennial liners to grow on to saleable size.

  • General plant maintenance: watering, pruning, spacing, weeding, fertilizing. 

  • Moving merchandise around the garden center.  Including restocking and making displays.

  • Keeping the growing, retail and landscape material areas as well as loading dock clean and weed free.

  • Loading and unloading plant material, supplies and bulk goods.

  • Other duties requested by manager.

  • While not required, if you have experience operating equipment such as skid steer loader, tractor, forklift or truck be sure to let us know!

 WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Must have ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. or more, multiple times throughout the day.

  • Must have ability to work standing, walking and moving for up to 8-hrs. per day.

  • Must have ability to work outside in all types of weather and temperatures.

  • Carry, lift, load, push, pull, reach, grab, work with hands, twist, walk and work with hands.

  • Flexible, up to 5 days per week including Saturday or Sunday.
